The purpose of the Staff Key is to identify the staff member that performed an operation irrespective of whoever is logged into the system.

e.g.

• creating a bill or making a payment
• creating an appointment
• changes in an appointment
• entering a new patient's details

The system will prompt for the staff key of the staff member for important actions or changes in the system thus identifying the individual staff member rather than simply the user that has logged into the session.

 

The Staff Key can be disabled by the Admin user

Administration > Settings > System Preferences > Administration Tab

Uncheck the box Ask for Staff key for important operations.
